Bartlesville, Okla. – The McPherson College women's soccer team was on the road Saturday, squaring off against the KCAC's top team and the 8
th ranked team in the NAIA, the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles.
The Bulldogs came into the contest dinged up and without several key starters. The Eagles took advantage of the situation and opened with three quick goals in the first ten minutes of the game. Down 3-0, the Bulldogs settled in and kept the Eagles off the scoreboard for the next 20 minutes of action. In the final 18 minutes of the first half, Oklahoma Wesleyan added three more goals to head into the halftime intermission leading 6-0.
The Bulldogs played much better in the second half. The Eagles had their starting 11 in the game for most of the second half but the Bulldogs conceded only one goal to that group 13 minutes into the frame. The Eagles added one final goal in the 89
th minute making the final score 8-0.
Lauren Kunda and
Emma Meinholdt combined for the loss in goal. Kunda played the first half facing 10 shots on goal and making four saves. The second half belonged to Meinholdt who faced six shot on frame and also had four saves.
The loss drops the Bulldogs to 3-7-1 overall, and 2-7-1 in KCAC play. They will be back on the pitch on Wednesday when they host the Ottawa University Braves at Paul Family Field in a 5:00 pm matchup.
