Peru, Neb. – The McPherson College women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday, on the road at the hands of the Peru State Bobcats 77-70.
The first half belonged to the Bulldogs. They opened by winning the first quarter 19-15, dropped the second 16-14 but still had the lead, 33-31 heading into the break. In the third quarter that two point lead turned into a three point deficit. The Bobcats took control in the third outscoring the Bulldogs in the period by five, 24-19.
In the fourth quarter the Bobcat lead continued to grow as the Bulldogs struggled to hold the Bobcats defensively while at the same time struggling making shots on the other end of the floor. In the end, the Bulldogs were unable to steal a road win from a tough AMC opponent.
Key Statistic
Points off turnovers was a key factor in Saturday's loss. The Bulldogs forced 22 miscues from the Bobcats, but only manufactured 18 points off of those mistakes. The Bobcats on the other hand turned the Bulldogs' 14 turnovers into 20 points.
By the Numbers
The Bulldogs shot 40% from the floor for the game, and 28% from beyond the three point arc. They left nine points on the table going 12 of 21 from the charity stripe.
Two Bulldogs scored in double figures.
The Bulldogs were outscored by the Bobcats 46 to 36 in the paint.
MC lost the battle of the boards, 36-27.

The Bulldogs, now 3-1 on the season, will open up KCAC play on Wednesday, hosting the University of St. Mary Spires at 6:00 pm at the Sport Center.
