Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bulldog Shooting Struggles Continue In Loss to OKWU

Bartlesville, Okla. - The McPherson College men's basketball went toe to toe with the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles, the KCAC's #1 team, on Saturday.

The Bulldogs hung with the Eagles through the first half, trailing the nationally ranked Eagles by seven at the intermission, 31-24. Out of the break, Josh Rivers converted an old fashioned three point play to get the Bulldogs to within four, but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the way. The Bulldogs struggled to get stops on the second half on the defensive end of the floor, and had too many empty trips on the offensive end.

A little over three minutes into the second session, the Eagle lead had ballooned out to double digits. The lead hovered around 11 points for the bulk of the half, but late in the frame the Eagles pushed their advantage north of 20 points. In the end the deficit hit 23, 85-62

Key Statistic

Shooting, again, was the key to the game. The Bulldogs shot just 37% from the floor for the game while the Eagles finished above 50%.

By the Numbers

The Bulldogs continue to struggle from behind the three point arc. Against the Eagles they made 6 of 18 (33%) of their attempts.

Three Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Christian Aguillard with 16.

The Bulldogs won the turnover battle 10-12, but were out-rebounded by the Eagles 26-38.
