Bulldog Win Streak at Nine with Sweep of Bethany

McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College volleyball team pushed their streak of consecutive set wins to 24 on Wednesday night with a 3-0 sweep of intra-county rival Bethany College.

It was a near dominant performance from start to finish with just one minor hiccup in the third set. The Bulldogs opened with a 25-18 win in the first set and then won set two, 25-20. In the third set they seemed to be cruising to an easy sweep, leading 11-6, but the Swedes went on 7-1 run to take the lead 13-12. Late in the set, the lead was 18-15 in favor of the visitors before the Bulldogs answered with a 6-1 run of their own to retake the lead 21-19. From there they closed out the set winning four of the final seven points to finish 25-22.

The Bulldogs defense was on point. They held the Swedes to only 35 kills while recording 70 defensive digs, keeping rallies alive.

The Bulldogs hit .271 with 55 kills on 133 swings with 19 attack errors.

 Next Up

 The Bulldogs, now 21-7 on the season, and 18-4 in KCAC play, have won nine consecutive matches, their longest streak of the season. They will put that streak on the line again on Friday evening when they host Oklahoma City University, the #15 team in the nation. First serve at the Sport Center is slated for 5:00 pm.
