Bulldog Bats Hot Again in Game 3 Win at USM

Leavenworth, Kan. – After suffering their first loss of the season in game two of Saturday's double header with St. Mary, the McPherson College baseball team bounce back in a big way in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs found their bats again, pounding out 18 hits which led to a 22-4 win to clinch the series 2-1. Ten of the Bulldogs 18 hits went for extra bases including six doubles, and four homeruns. Seven different Bulldogs registered a hit, and four recorded multiple hits. The big offensive performance of the day was from lead-off man Kris Perez. In seven at bats, Perez was 4 for 4 with a three walks, a double, and three solo home runs. He finished with five runs scored, and three RBI.

On the mound, Tyler Norris got the start and picked up the win. He went six innings, surrendering no runs on just four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.

The Bulldogs scored in every inning, putting up a crooked number in the each of the first three innings. They led 10-0 through four innings, but blew the game wide open with ten more runs in the top of the fifth. They led 22-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning when the Spires finally got on the board with their four runs.

Coach Moses summed up the series saying, "Obviously we wanted to win all three games. Game two was extremely frustrating to say the least. Still, going on the road in this conference and winning a series is not easy. We are looking forward to hosting Sterling on Tuesday."

 The Bulldogs will be back on the diamond on Tuesday, hosting the Sterling College Warriors in a single nine inning game out at Bulldog Park. First pitch is slated for 2:00 pm.
