LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs fell to the University of Saint Mary Spires 88-62 in Leavenworth, Kan. Thursday night (Jan. 26), after shooting just 30.5 percent from the field.
The Spires took the lead early and never looked back, grabbing a 10-2 edge less than five minutes in, before pushing it to a 21-12 advantage after the first quarter.
The second quarter was more of the same, with the Spires extending their lead to 18 points at the break.
Gillian Rodgers led the Bulldogs in the scoring column with 18 points, while Jheda Kennedy added nine points and a pair of steals.
The Bulldogs return to the Sports Center on Saturday (Jan. 28) for a KCAC showdown with No. 24-ranked Sterling College. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
