McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs battled back from a one-goal deficit twice to draw with the University of Saint Mary Spires in their season finale Saturday (Oct. 28) at McPherson Stadium.
Romario Harding put the Spires on top 1-0 in the 65th minute with an unassisted goal, but Gabe Porras leveled the score 15 minutes later, finding the back of the net on an Eric Mendoza cross.
The Spires scored again in the 83rd minute, but again the Bulldogs had an answer just 91 seconds later, this time from Nathan Van Wyck heading a cross from Mendoza over the goalkeeper.
The Bulldogs had just four shots on goal, but buried half of them to pick up their fifth draw of the season. Camden Wiseman got the start in net for the Bulldogs and stopped five shots.
In head coach Kent Freund's first season at the helm, the Bulldogs finished with a 1-12-5 record, but showed improvement late in the season finishing with four draws and one win over their final eight games.
