McPHERSON, Kan. — The Bethany College Swedes scored 14 runs on 16 hits to take down the (RV) McPherson College Bulldogs 14-7 in the final game of the season series at Bulldog Park.
The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead after the first frame, but a three-run inning by Bethany gave them a 4-2 advantage.
Gage Ninness closed the gap with an RBI single in the second, but again the Swedes had an answer, loading the bases in the next half inning before scoring on a grounder to first base.
The Bulldogs tied the ballgame in the fourth when they loaded the bases themselves before Antonio Fernandez was hit by a pitch to score Sammy Grim. Then, Hunter Robinson made it 5-5, grounding into a fielder's choice and bringing Ninness home.
The Swedes took a two-run lead in the sixth, but this time it was the Bulldogs who answered, when Fernandez doubled to right-center field bringing Ninness and Grim around to score.
Bethany put two more runs on the board in the seventh before adding five in the eighth to take control.
Ninness and Hayden Foster each finished with three hits for the Bulldogs, who lost at Bulldog Park for the first time this season. Feuerstake recorded two hits, stretching his hitting streak to 14 games.
The Bulldogs hit the road Tuesday (Mar. 28) to take on Sterling College. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
