STERLING, Kan. — The McPherson College baseball team got back on track Tuesday (Mar. 28) with a 14-5 win over Sterling College in Sterling, Kan.
Dawson Walters put the Bulldogs on the board in the second inning with the first of his four hits, bringing Kevinn Castillo around to score. Walters wasn't done yet though as he made it a 3-0 Bulldog lead with a two-run blast in the fourth inning.
The Warriors scored one in the next half-inning, but the Bulldogs answered with a three-run fifth frame. An RBI single by Antonio Fernandez opened up the fifth, then Hunter Robinson followed with a double down the left field line that scored pinch runner Caleb Feuerstake. Castillo wrapped it up with an RBI single to right field.
The Bulldogs added two more in the seventh, one in the eighth, and iced the game with five in the ninth to pick up their 15th win in their last 17 games.
Walter drove in five runs for the Bulldogs in addition to his four hits, while Castillo finished with four hits and three RBIs. Fernandez added four RBIs.
Darby Gilbert got the call on the bump for the Bulldogs and threw 4.2 innings with six strikeouts.
The Bulldogs are back in action this weekend for a three-game set against Saint Mary in Leavenworth.
