BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The (RV) Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles hit two home runs Friday (Apr. 21) to knock off the McPherson College Bulldogs 7-3 in Bartlesville, Okla. The loss snaps the Bulldogs' five-game winning streak.
The Bulldogs struck first in the top of the opening frame after Gage Ninness reached on a leadoff triple to left field before scoring on a ground ball by Caleb Feuerstake.
Oklahoma Wesleyan answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to grab a lead they would not relinquish. The Eagles extended their lead to 3-1 in the third on a home run by Tommy Davis.
Dawson Walters pulled the Bulldogs within 3-2 in the fourth with an RBI double, scoring Kevinn Castillo, but the Eagles answered with another home run, this time a two-run shot by A'Darius Council.
The Eagles scored one more in the sixth and one in the seventh to lead 7-2, then the Bulldogs rounded out the scoring when Ninness came home on a sacrifice fly by Antonio Fernandez.
Blake Maddock got the start on the mound for the Bulldogs, throwing six innings with one strikeout while allowing six runs on six hits.
The teams will close out the three-game set with a doubleheader Saturday (Apr. 22) starting at noon.
