BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — McPherson College won game two of the doubleheader 5-3 Saturday (Apr. 22) after dropping the opener 6-2 to the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles in Bartlesville, Okla.
The Eagles looked to be in control after scoring three runs in the second inning, including a solo homer by Jesus Rojas, but the Bulldogs struck for five unanswered to grab the win.
Antonio Fernandez got the rally started with an RBI double in the fifth, bringing pinch-runner Ky'rell Taylor around to score. Kevinn Castillo kept it going with a sacrifice fly in the next at-bat to score Caleb Feuerstake, then an RBI single by Gage Ninness tied the ballgame.
Feuerstake gave the Bulldogs their first lead of the day with an RBI single, then Fernandez rounded out the scoring with a single up the middle to bring Taylor home again.
Alex Escobar got the call on the bump for the Bulldogs and struck out four in 6.2 innings of work.
In the opener, the Eagles scored four runs in the first inning off of four singles, then pushed their lead to 6-0 with one run in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Feuerstake put the Bulldogs on the board in the seventh with a two-run blast, but McPherson was unable to generate enough offense to complete the comeback.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday (Apr. 25) for a non-conference doubleheader against Randall University at Bulldog Park.
