Box Score 2 OTTAWA, Kan. — The Ottawa University Braves won a pair of games Saturday (Apr. 8) in Ottawa, Kan., to sweep the three-game series against the (20) McPherson College Bulldogs.
The Braves took an early lead in game two, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning, but the Bulldogs with a three-run third frame thanks to an RBI double by Antonio Fernandez and a single by Hunter Robinson that drove in a pair.
The Braves leveled the score in the next half-inning before regaining the lead in the fourth.
A sacrifice fly by Gage Ninness tied the ballgame once again and sent the game into extra innings, but an RBI single by Gabe Eckstaine broke the 4-4 gridlock to win in the bottom of the eighth.
Alex Escobar got the start on the bump for the Bulldogs and struck out seven batters. Robinson went 3-for-4 at the plate while driving in two runs.
It was all Braves early on in the opener, scoring one run in the first inning, three in the third, and three more in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead.
Fernandez drove in the Bulldogs' first run of the game in the eighth before coming around to score on an error.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday (Apr. 11) to take on Tabor in Hillsboro, Kan.
