KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The McPherson College Bulldogs fell 5-0 Sunday afternoon (Sep. 17) in a conference bout against the Avila University Eagles in Kansas City, Mo.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute on a Maddylen Farris goal. That score would hold through until halftime.
Avila broke the game wide open with a pair of goals in the first three minutes of the second half, including one tally less than a minute into the frame. Nikkole Wood pushed it to a 4-0 lead in the 72nd minute, then Aubrey Chaney scored with 16 seconds left in the game.
The Eagles outshot MC 23-5, with a 13-3 advantage on-goal. Caitlin Buendia, Emily Segura, and Andrea Salas each put one shot on-net.
The Bulldogs return to McPherson Stadium Wednesday (Sep. 20) for the KCAC home-opener against Kansas Wesleyan. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
