HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The McPherson College Cross Country teams competed on Friday (Sep. 1) at the annual Terry Masterson Twilight Cross Country Meet at Fun Valley Sports Complex in Hutchinson, Kan.
The women finished eighth and the men were ninth at the meet where 18 schools were represented, including several KCAC, and KJCCC Schools. The meet was won by NCAA Division II Fort Hays State University by both the men and the women.
The duo of Samantha Thompson (19:53) and Chloe Clevenger (19:56) led the Bulldogs with top-25 finishes, finishing 23rd and 24th respectively. Thompson's time was an incredible 41 seconds faster than last season at the same meet. Brooke Krapes (21:48) was the next Bulldog across the line in 52nd place, she was followed by Amari Robb (23:37), who finished 69th, over 2 minutes faster than last season. Scoring was completed by freshman Johanna Walker (23:48).
The men were led by Azariah Gonzalez in his first race as a Bulldog. Gonzalez finished 34th with a time of 22:20 on the 4-mile course. Paul Choi (23:28) was next behind in 56th, and Regan Thai (24:16) in 70th. Parker Roberts was the 4th finisher with a personal-best time of 24:40 in 74th, and Cody Kuss (24:50) completed the scoring by finishing 75th.
Both teams will travel to Hays, Kan., Friday (Sep. 8) for the Fort Hays State Open. The women will run at 6:15 p.m. with the men going at 7:00 p.m.
