KEARNEY, Neb. — The McPherson College Bulldogs women's tennis squad opened their season Friday (Feb. 16) with a 7-0 sweep over the Hasting College Broncos in Kearney, Neb.
The Bulldogs won the doubles point after Camila Sanchez and Taimi Nashiku knocked off the Broncos top doubles pairing 6-1. Kayla Ortiz and Vanessa Hofer sealed the point with a 6-3 win.
MC maintained that momentum into the singles competition, as Alexa Garcia defeated Victoria Harris 6-3, 6-0. Nashiku made it a 3-0 Bulldog lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Josline Carter.
Isabella Ellerbee sealed the overall victory, holding on for a 6-2, 7-5 win in #3 singles. Maddie Dobson rounded out the sweep with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Abby Harveson.
The Bulldogs will be back in action Friday (Feb. 23) as they travel to Tahlequah, Okla. to take on NCAA Division II Northeastern State University.
