LINDSBORG, Kan. — The McPherson College women's tennis squad opened KCAC play with a 6-1 win over the Bethany College Swedes Monday (Mar. 18) in Lindsborg, Kan.
The Bulldogs got off to a 1-0 lead, winning the doubles point thanks to a 6-2 win by Maxey/Garcia, and a 6-3 win by Sanchez/Nashiku.
Grace Maxey made quick work of Kyla Metro in No. 3-singles, winning 6-0, 6-1, then Camila Sanchez put MC on top 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Ana Sofia Castillo Paz. Zeynep Barut clinched the win for the Bulldogs without dropping a game, knocking off Maria Mistereck 6-0, 6-0.
Vanessa Hofer fell in a three-set thriller, but the Bulldogs responded with a pair of wins in the five and six spots. Alexa Garcia took down Makenna Russom 6-2, 6-0, then Maddie Dobson finished it off with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-3 win over Tia Gregory.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 20), hosting Kansas Wesleyan at the Bulldog Tennis Center.
