McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson College Bulldogs picked up a sweep Wednesday (Mar. 20) over the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes at the Bulldog Tennis Center.
MC swept the doubles point, thanks to a 6-1 by Ortiz/Hofer followed by a 6-2 win by Sanchez/Nashiku. Grace Maxey and Alexa Garcia finished off the sweep with a 6-3 win in the number two spot.
The Bulldogs got off to a hot start in the singles competition and never cooled down, winning in every position without dropping a set. Maxey opened singles with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Kristi Henderson, then Taimi Nashiku made it a 3-0 Bulldog lead with a quick 6-1, 6-2 win over McKinnley Evans.
Camila Sanchez kept the party going with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Michaela Crowe, then Garcia finished off Camrynn Bagwell 6-1, 6-1. Vanessa Hofer (6-2, 6-0) and Ava Bolin (6-0, 6-2) completed the sweep.
The Bulldogs return to the Bulldog Tennis Center on Saturday (Mar. 23) for a KCAC showdown with Oklahoma Wesleyan, weather permitting.
