McPherson College Director of Athletics Josh Daume announced today the hiring of Kristen Silva as the next Head Softball Coach for the Bulldogs. Silva comes to McPherson after a three-year stint at Seward County Community College in Liberal, KS. Prior to her time at Seward, she spent seven seasons as the Head Coach at Lamar Community College in Colorado.
"We're excited to bring Coach Silva to McPherson College to lead our softball program. Her experience as a Head Coach, both as a recruiter and a leader on the field really stood out as we conducted our search," stated Daume. "Her vision for the program, the way she wants to develop players and give them a great collegiate softball experience were all deciding factors in choosing Kristen to lead our program."
Silva brings over 200 career wins to the Bulldogs. Prior to her roles as a Head Coach, Silva served as an assistant coach at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA for two seasons.
"I'm extremely excited for this opportunity to be the next Head Coach at McPherson College," stated Silva. "I want to thank Director of Athletics Josh Daume for believing in me and my vision for this program. I am looking forward to getting to campus, meeting, and working with the outstanding student-athletes that are already there and give them a great experience."
A native of Hawaii, Silva holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Colorado Mesa University, and a Master of Science degree in Sports Conditioning and Performance from Southern Utah University. As a student-athlete at Colorado Mesa, she was a four-year starter for the Mavs in the outfield and won an RMAC conference championship in 2007.
