How it Happened
The Bulldogs opened the match with a 3-0 lead before pushing to a 10-4 advantage, forcing an early Avila timeout. Following the break, kills from Enya Fierens and Roxana Varela Parra fueled a 5-0 McPherson run to make it 15-4. Avila used their second timeout after the Bulldogs extended their lead to 13, with Fierens and Lily Gray combining for a block to cap off a dominate 25-11 win in set one.

McPherson carried that momentum into the second set, racing out to a 10-3 lead behind five kills, an ace, and a block. The Eagles called another timeout, but the Bulldogs kept rolling to push the margin to 18-5 to 18-5. A few miscues allowed Avila to chip away, but the Bulldogs quickly regrouped, with kills from Gray and Brooke McHale closing out the second set 25-11, putting McPherson up 2-0.

Avila kept things closer to start the third set, evening the score at 2-2 before McPherson regained control. The Bulldogs built a four-point advantage, but a service ace from the Eagles cut the deficit to one. Kills from Katie Warden and Georgia Brell stretched the lead again, prompting another Avila timeout. Both teams battled back and forth for points with the Bulldogs taking a 18-14 lead behind attacking errors from the Eagles. McPherson continued to maintain steady pressure heading into the final moments of the third set. A kill from Kaylee Stegora closed out a 25-20 set three victory and secured the sweep for the Bulldogs.

Gray led the Bulldogs with eight kills and three blocks, while Tabor Scanlon made a statement at the service line with three aces and added 11 assists to round out a strong performance.
