Women's Bowling Places 5th at Five Seasons Classic

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - This past weekend, the Bulldogs competed in the Five Seasons Classic in their second competition of the season. Previously, McPherson competed in the Mid-States Championships down in Wichita where they placed 5th out of 24 teams that came to compete.

Day One

McPherson went up against fierce competition on day one, going 2-3 on the day with games of 825 (L), 908 (W), 857 (L), 824 (L), and 798 (W). There victories on the day were over Kansas Wesleyan, while were unable to defeat Coe College, Mt. Mercy, and Morningside. They would finish the day 10th in the standings based upon wins out of all 17 teams and 9th in overall pinfall with a day one total of 4,212 pins knocked down. Freshman Kacee Rhody led the way for the Bulldogs in the first day of competition with a five-game total of 931, averaging a score of 186.2 per game which placed as 13th overall out of all the bowlers in Cedar Rapids. 


Day Two

On day two, the Bulldogs featured much improvement and climbed up high in the standings. They would go 4-1 on the day with wins over Peru State, William Penn, Augustana, Clarke and a second loss on the weekend to Morningside. McPherson finished tied with Mount Mercy for the highest 20-game pinfall with 3,810 knocked down, averaging 190.5 per game. The team would finish 5th based on wins with a record of 6-4 on the weekend and 3rd based off of overall pinfall with a two-day total of 8,022 pins. 

McPherson also came away with a program record in their third baker set, breaking the previous record of 892 for the highest four-game baker set. During the record-breaking set, the Bulldogs had games of 244, 258, 176, and 214. 258 is now the highest baker game bowled in program history. Not only was this record broken, but the Bulldogs set a record for the highest 20-game baker total is program history with a total of 3,810.
 
Up Next
The Bulldogs will head to Topeka, Kansas next Friday for the NAIA BCA Invitationals at the Gage Bowl from November 14th to the 16th.
