OTTAWA, Kan. — Once again giving a nationally ranked opponent everything they could handle, the Bulldogs came up just short on Tuesday (Mar 25) as they fell to the Ottawa University Braves, 5-2.
Dawson Walters pushed across the first run of the contest in the top half of the first inning when he bagged an RBI single that brought home
Peyton Starr to give MC the 1-0 lead. The advantage flipped over to the Braves in the third inning thanks to a two run homerun, followed up by a fielder's choice in the fourth to give Ottawa a 3-1 lead heading into the middle frames of the contest.
Walters secured another RBI off a fielder's choice in the top half of the fifth inning to make it a one run game, but that served as the final run MC was able to tally in the contest as the Ottawa pitch staff kept a lid on the Bulldog offense. MC stranded eight runners on base and only recorded one extra base hit thanks to a
Jace Essig double.
The Bulldogs return home as they begin a three game series against Avila University with a double header on Saturday, March 29. The first pitch for game one is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. with game two starting 30 minutes afterwards.
