MCPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson College women's tennis team swept Kansas Wesleyan by a 6-0 score Monday afternoon.
The Bulldogs are now 8-7 on the season, including 2-0 in KCAC action.
Alexandria Garcia and
Vanessa Hofer won by a 6-1 score at the number one doubles spot. Playing at the number three spot,
Pia Hinricher and
Laureen Van Drunen won by the same margin.
Bella Ellerbee and
Taimi Nashiku notched a 6-3 victory at the number two position, wrapping up the convincing point for the 1-0 lead.
Garcia, playing at the number one singles spot, cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Nashiku, seeing time at the number two spot, also won by a 6-1, 6-1 score.
Van Drunen posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the number three spot. Hinricher needed to play a bit longer in the second set, but still secured a 6-0, 7-5 victory at number four. Ellerbee registered a 6-2, 6-2 win at the number five singles spot.
Ava Bolin's match was unfinished. She won the first set 6-1 before falling 6-3 in the second stanza. Bolin was in the midst of the final frame when the match was called.
The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday when they host Bethany College at 3 p.m.
