McPHERSON, Kan. — The Bulldogs closed out the home portion of the 2025 campaign in the best possible way as they took down the Southwestern College Moundbuilders on Wednesday (Apr. 23).
Marcus Patton got the scoring started early for MC as he bagged himself an RBI single in the home half of the first inning of play.
Luke Nordean followed him up well by pushing two runs across with an RBI double to give the Bulldogs a quick 3-0 lead after one inning of play. Things continued to look bleak for Southwestern in the fourth as a critical error allowed
Colin Evers to score and push the lead out to four runs as the game went into the middle innings.
The Moundbuilder finally began to turn the tide in the fifth as with the bases loaded, Southwestern put together two straight strong at bats to force walks and bring in a pair of runs to cut the lead to 4-2.
Marcus Burton quickly got those two runs back for the Bulldogs in the bottom half of the fifth as he ripped a two run RBI double into left field to push the lead back out to four.
Peyton Starr added another run via a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning before Southwestern pushed one more run across in the top of the seventh.
Braden Schiffner put the game out of reach in the home half of the seventh with a two RBI single and the Bulldogs blanked the Moundbuilders the rest of the way to secure a 9-3 win.
The Bulldogs kick off the final regular season series of the year on Friday, April 25 as they travel to Sterling to take on the Warriors for game one of three. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
