LINDSBORG, Kan. – The top-seeded McPherson College women's tennis team cruised to a 4-0 victory over No. 8 Bethany College Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the KCAC Championship.
The Bulldogs are the defending KCAC Tournament Champions and now stand at 19-7 on the season while pushing the all-time series against the Swedes to 11-4.
Top-seeded
Alexandria Garcia and Vanesa Hofer combined for a 6-2 victory in doubles action.
Pia Hinricher and
Laureen Van Drunen wasted little time in the 6-0 win at the No. 3 spot, giving McPherson College a 1-0 lead.
Bella Ellerbee and
Taimi Nashiku were ahead 4-1 when the doubles point was clinched.
Garcia moved to 2-0 on the day with her 6-0, 6-1 win over her foe at the No. 1 singles spot. Nashiku, seeing time at No. 3, accounted for a 6-0, 6-0 victory against her opponent. Ellerbee tallied a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 6 position, giving the top seed the victory.
The Bulldogs will square off against No. 4 Ottawa tomorrow at 2 p.m. The semifinal match will take place at Bethany College.
