MOBILE, Ala. – The McPherson College men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Holy Cross College Tuesday in the first round of the NAIA Men's Tennis Championship.
Second-seeded
Simon Delgadillo and
Arthur Nardy lost a hard-fought 6-4 contest.
Texas Ranger Schmidt and
Jayson Wasserfuhr fell by a 6-3 count at the No .3 doubles position.
Celian Botlan and
Oscar Brouwer trailed 6-5 in the other doubles match, but it went unfinished as Holy Cross gained the doubles point.
In singles action, Botlan dropped a 6-2, 6-4 match at the No. 2 spot. Wasserfuhr, playing at No. 4, fell by a 6-1, 6-1 count. Delgadillo lost a 6-2, 6-1 decision at the No. 5 slot.
With Holy Cross securing the win, the other matches went unfinished. At No. 1, Nardy trailed 7-6 (6-3), 3-1. Brouwer, holding down the No. 3 position, led 7-5, 6-5 at the time the match finished.
Balazs Temesvari trailed 6-1, 5-4 at No. 6.
The Bulldogs season comes to an end with a 19-9 record under interim head coach
Craig Holman, and finished with a 10-2 mark in KCAC play.
