How it Happened
Both sides would go through the first half feeling the opposition out, with just two shots from Baker within the opening 20 minutes of the first half. McPherson's first shot attempt came from
Sijmen Van Der Zee, sailing high of the crossbar for the opening offensive attack from the Bulldogs. It wouldn't be until the 42
nd minute of the first half that the Wildcats broke the scoreless drought with a goal from Noah Conover, taking the lead just before the halftime whistle.
Quickly into the second half, Conover would find his second goal of the match as he buried a left-footed shot into the net in the 46
th minute. Down by two goals, the Bulldogs desperately needed a score to get themselves back into the match. McPherson's
Sergio Najera would have a shot on goal in the 71
st minute, but Baker goalkeeper Maxot Arystanov would glove the shot. Following three yellow cards shown for the Wildcats, it would be Conover completing his hat trick in the 84
th minute, putting the game out of reach with a 3-0 advantage with just over six minutes left in the match.
The Wildcats would hold onto their clean sheet victory and open up their season with a 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs.
