Box Score McPherson, Kan. – After opening the season on the road at the Sioux City Tournament, the Bulldogs made their home debut on Tuesday night, taking on Baker University. The Wildcats came in with a 1-0 record after their 3-0 victory over Tabor last Friday.

How It Happened
The Bulldogs wasted no time setting the tone, stringing together an 11-0 run to take a 15-4 lead, forcing the Wildcats to use both of their timeouts. Baker would go on a 4-0 run of their own, but it wouldn't be enough with McPherson cruising to a 25-13 win.
Carrying that momentum into set two, the Bulldogs stormed out to a 5-0 lead thanks to strong play at the net. The Wildcats would put up the next three points before the Bulldogs extended their lead to seven, making it 12-5. McPherson continued to make an impact at the service line recording four more aces and earning another dominant 25-15 set win.
Baker fought back in the third, taking a 13-9 lead and forcing McPherson to use their first timeout of the match. The Wildcats would continue to roll, extending their lead to seven points. Despite an effort from the Bulldogs, which put them within one point, the Wildcats were able to hold off McPherson for a 25-23 win.
In the fourth set, McPherson came out firing again with a 7-0 run, but Baker rallied to tie the set at 24. The teams would go back and forth before the Bulldogs were able to pull out the win with a 3-0 run to end the set at 30-28.
Enya Fierens powered the Bulldog offense with 15 kills, while
Brooke McHale made a statement at the service line with six aces. Defensively,
Celestina Retumban led the back line with 26 digs, and
April Conilogue held strong at the net with four blocks.

The Bulldogs travel to Texas this weekend for the Texas Two Step Tournament. On Friday, they'll face Lindsey Wilson at 11:00 am and Nelson at 7:00pm, followed by matchups against Texas Wesleyan at 12:00pm and Texas A&M-Texarkana at 4:00pm on Saturday.
