McPherson, Kan – Following a phenomenal 2025-2026 Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field season, Lamar Gordon has been named a finalist for the College Male Athlete of the Year award at this year's 2026 Greater Wichita Sports Banquet. Other finalists for this year's award include Kenyon Giles of Wichita State's Men's Basketball program and senior golfer Trinton Nobles of Friends University.
 
Gordon wrapped up his year as a national champion in the Shot Put at the NAIA National Championships in Asheville, NC with a massive throw of 18.31m, the farthest throw across the NAIA all year long. He also took 1^st place in the Shot Put and Discus events at the KCAC Outdoor Championships back in April, in addition to his 1^st place Shot Put throw at the KCAC Indoor Championships.  
 
The winner will be announced at the 28^th Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 25^th at the INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, KS.
