McPherson College Athletic Training serves the McPherson College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics through quality medical care brought forth by educated certified athletic trainers, and a selection of specialized medical professionals. These professionals include, but are not limited to, sports orthopaedic surgeons, general medicine, chiropractors, podiatrists, pharmacists and emergency medical services to provide the most effective and quality health care network possible. McPherson College Athletic Training strives to provide the safest possible conditions to excel on and off the field through an emphasis on educating student-athletes and coaches in areas of injury prevention, and offering comprehensive athletic training coverage to all sports at McPherson College. McPherson College Athletic Training strives to withhold the following philosophies:
1. To ensure that each student-athlete's medical welfare remains the highest professional priority, regardless of current status of competition or personal team standing, through quality medical care, proper decision-making, and providing the safest environment possible for competition.
2. To deliver the most effective medical care possible in the realm of our extensive education and knowledge, and utilize our network of quality medical professionals in such cases that our credentials restrict us in our practice.
3. To integrate into our practice the foundations of McPherson College’s philosophies by enhancing student’s lives through scholarship, participation, and service.
4. To be familiar with, and adhere to, the guidelines, By-Laws, and proposals set forth by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and the Kansas Collegiate Athletics Conference (KCAC).
