Kyle MacKinnon enters his third season as a McPherson hitting coach in 2019.
MacKinnon spent the two summers in 2016 and 2017 as an assistant coach in the Western Major Baseball League, a collegiate summer league. He assisted with the Fort McMurray (Alberta) Giants in 2017 after working with the Medicine Hat (Alberta) Mavericks in 2016. The Mavericks went 30-17 overall and were ranked for most of the summer.
Prior to that, MacKinnon served as field manager and general manager of the Burlington Bandits of the semi-professional Intercounty Baseball League for two summers, earning Manager of the Year honors in 2015. He spent the summer of 2013 as an assistant with the Barrie Bay Cats, helping lead the club to the IBL finals.
MacKinnon also served as head coach at George Brown College in Toronto from 2012-14. While at GBC, he led the Huskies to their first postseason tournament apperance in 2013.
From 2009-2016, he held various roles with the Ontario Blue Jays - Canada's premier travel baseball team.
In addition to coaching, MacKinnon also assists with scouting for Prep Baseball Report Ontario.
A Caledon, Ontario, native, MacKinnon played catcher for three seasons at Durham College, leading the Lords to two conference titles and a pair of National Championship Final Four berths.
