Cameron Magnall

Cameron Magnall enters his eighth season as the McPherson head men's and women's cross country coach in 2018.

Also serving as the head track and field coach from 2011-2015, Magnall recently transitioned into an assistant's role with the track program - focusing on distance events - as the program’s numbers have grown significantly. McPherson has produced 19 NAIA All-Americans since Magnall's arrival.

Magnall guided the men's and women's teams each to a sixth-place finish in the KCAC Championships in 2017. Off the course, two male runners and one female runner were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Magnall's 2016 cross country teams finished third on the men's side and ninth on the women’s side in the KCAC. For the second straight season, the Bulldogs sent three athletes (two men, one woman) to nationals.

After finishing runner-up at the KCAC Indoor Championships, the 2014 conference outdoor championships were a sight to see for Bulldog Nation as both the men's and women's McPherson track & field squads brought home KCAC Championship trophies; the men's team won by 25 points while the women's crew grabbed the top spot by seven. After earning two All-America honors at the NAIA Indoor Championships, McPherson sent 17 athletes to the outdoor meet and brought back five plaques.

Magnall came to McPherson with six years of head coaching experience at Falcon (Colo.) High School. At Falcon, he guided the boys' cross country team to a 2008 4A Colorado State Championship and earned 2008 Rocky Mountain News All-Colorado and Denver Post All-Colorado Coach of the Year Honors. He had previously led the squad to state appearances in 2005 and 2006.

On the track, Magnall had similar success with four All-Americans, five individual state champions and 58 state qualifiers. His most recent state champion came in 2009 at the boys' 3,200m.

Magnall, an Iowa native, competed at Concordia (Minn.) and in 2005 earned a Bachelor’s degree in K-12 education with an emphasis in German and Spanish. He is pursuing a Master’s degree from Adams State (Colo.) in coaching.

Magnall has three kids - Delfino, Serenity and Jacob.
