Mitchell Whitehead

Mitchell Whitehead is entering his third season as the Head Coach of the McPherson College Women’s Bowling program.
 
In the first two seasons of the program, the Bulldogs finished 3rd in the KCAC. The program finished the 2025-2026 season with their highest national rankings, #15 in the NAIA RPI, and #19 in the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Power Rankings. The Bulldogs look to take another step forward in year three, searching for their first KCAC Championship.   
 
 
Coaching Highlights
Whitehead helped launch the Bulldog Women’s Bowling program in 2024. In the inaugural 2024-2025 season the Bulldogs finished with a record of 76-86, finishing ranked #26 in the NAIA RPI. The Bulldogs would finish 3rd in the KCAC tournament and qualify for the USBC post-season where they finished 9th out of 18 in the Dallas, TX sectional. The Bulldogs took a big step forward during the 2025-2026 season with a 123-67 record, finishing ranked #15 in the NAIA RPI, and 3rd once again in the KCAC tournament. The Bulldogs would once again qualify for USBC post-season play where they finished 9th out of 25 teams at the Addison, IL sectional. Whitehead coached 3 All-KCAC players during the 25-26 season including the KCAC Newcomer of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
 
In previous coaching stops, Whitehead has 1 trip to the Intercollegiate Team Championships. Whitehead has also coached 7 NCBCA All-Americans, 5 IBMA Runner-Up Bowlers of the Year, 1 NCBCA Women’s National Rookie of the Year, 1 Junior Team USA member, 1 Team USA Member, and 1 U.S. Amateur Champion.
 
 
Playing Highlights
Whitehead competed at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX from 2013-2017 where he had a career average of 185 pins per game over 141 games. Individually, Whitehead racked up 9 top 25 finishes, 3 top 10 finishes, and 2 All Tournament Team Awards throughout his career.
