Tim McCutchen enters his first year at McPherson College as the Director of Athletic Communications where he will serve as the main media contact for all 17 varsity programs. He will oversee all statistical maintenance, broadcast productions, and social media content for McPherson Athletics accounts.
Coaching Highlights
Prior to taking on this role at McPherson, McCutchen was the Special Teams Coordinator, Recruiting Coordinator, and Social Media Coordinator for the University of Charleston (WV) football program. In this role, McCutchen assisted Charleston to an 11-0 regular season record in 2024, the first undefeated regular season in program history. McCutchen improved many statistical categories for the program's special teams units; most notably, his kickoff unit finished 11th best in the United States, forcing and recovering five turnovers throughout the season and allowing just 16 yards per return.Â

In his last two seasons of playing eligibility, McCutchen served as a graduate assistant for the Sports Information Department at Charleston for two years while pursing a Master’s of Business Administration. In this role, McCutchen gained plentiful experience and knowledge under Charleston’s Sports Information Director, Louisa Disi.
Playing Highlights
McCutchen was previously a four-time All-Mountain East Conference (NCAA Division II) placekicker for the Golden Eagles in his five starting years on the team. For two years, he had scored the most career points in the history of Charleston Football with 357 total; this was until running back Chavon Wright proceeded to break and extend the record in his dominant All-American years at Charleston. Following his final season, he led the nation in most career field goals as an active player with a total of 48 made and was fourth in most career points scored in Division II. In 2023, he would contribute to Charleston’s first ever Mountain East Conference Championship title as well as the program’s first playoff win in the NCAA Super Region One Playoffs.
In 2021, the Hurricane, WV native would earn First Team All-MEC honors in Charleston’s 8-2 season, where he would go 13 of 21 on field goals and 42 of 46 on extra point tries. In the first game of the year against Fairmont State, McCutchen would break the school record for the longest field goal with a 51-yarder, claiming the second longest in Mountain East Conference history. A week later, he would break his own record and the MEC record for the longest field goal with a 53-yard field goal in a thrilling contest against Frostburg State on the road, a record that still stands to this day. It would also be the longest field goal made in all of Division II for the 2021 season.
In 2019, McCutchen would start in nine games for the Golden Eagles going 12 of 16 on field goals throughout the season, with his biggest game of the year coming in Charleston’s victory over FCS Valparaiso on September 28th where he would go 4 of 4 on field goals in their 19-13 triumph.
