Box Score Sioux Falls, S.D.--Senior Armando Rodriguez scored the game winning goal in the 74th minute to lead the McPherson men’s soccer team to a 2-1 win over the University of Sioux Falls, Friday night.

“This was a very good road win for us,” said McPherson head coach Doug Quint. “We didn’t get off to the best start conceding an early goal, but our team was able to stay focused and find a way to win.”

“We played a good second half, establishing a nice rhythm, which created some nice scoring opportunities.”

The win maintains the Bulldogs undefeated record on the season (2-0-0).

MC found themselves in a hole just two minutes into the game when, Cody Lutes headed home a cross from Ryan Koehane.

USF held the lead until the 48th minute when an own goal drew the game even at ones.

The Bulldogs broke the tie in the 74th minute when, Armando Rodriguez used a Brent Mulford pass to find the back of the net, giving MC the eventual 2-1 win.

McPherson held the edge in shots, 12-11.

Bulldogs goalkeeper Blake Jett played all 90 minutes in goal recording three saves.

The Bulldogs will be back in action for their home opener Wednesday night against Mid-America Christian University at 8:00.
