Fellow senior Haley Cook (Littleton, Colo.) has also been impressive in her final season, as the Littleton, Colo., native ranks second on the team with four goals, while tied for first with three assists. Cook has written herself into the record book as the program career leader in goals, assists and points.

McPherson will most likely head to the KCAC Tournament following this week’s regular-season finale. The single-elimination tournament begins next week with the first two rounds played at the higher seed’s home site.

Southwestern (1-13-1, 0-6-1) is playing for pride, as the Moundbuilders are unable to gain a bid to the conference tournament. The Builders are winless in conference play following a 7-0 loss against Kansas Wesleyan University last Saturday. The Coyotes dominated play by tallying 27 shots, including 13 shots on goal, while holding SWC to just six. Southwestern’s lone victory on the season came on Sept. 4 against Dallas Christian College, 7-0.

Freshman Maddie Chapin leads the Builders with seven points on three goals and one assist. Her scoring came in matches against Dallas Christian, Manhattan Christian and Bethel College. Senior Alejandra Rojas is the only other Southwestern player with at least five points on two goals and one assist.

Southwestern was 7-10-1 last season, including wins in their first four conference matches, but lost six straight to end the season.

Head coach Joe Wood is in his fifth season at the helm of the Builder women’s soccer program. As a player at Southwestern, Wood was named KCAC Academic All-Conference.
