Wichita, Kan. – The McPherson College men’s tennis team spilt the singles scores, 3-3, but won two out of three doubles matches to defeat Friends University, 5-4, Saturday morning in Wichita, Kan.
In doubles, McPherson College’s No. 1 team of Igor Guasti and Ronaldo Filho defeated Colten Heirich and Cory Cockrell, 9-7, while the Bulldogs No. 3 team of Nathan Clary and Kyle Toland won their match in decisive fashion, 8-3. The two wins gave the Bulldogs an early 2-1 advantage entering the singles matches.
MC No. 1 Vyacheslav Bukatin opened the singles matches with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Scott Matzen, while No. 2 player Ronaldo Fiho and No. 6 Kyle Toland won their matches to give MC the 5-4 win.
The Bulldogs will be back in action Monday, April 12, as they travel to Bethel College for their second KCAC match of the season. Doubles matches will begin at 3:00 p.m. with singles to follow.
