Oklahoma City, Okla. – Sophomore goalkeeper Molly Whitwell (Plano, Texas) set a new career-high with 14 saves Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma City, Okla., but Mid-America Christian’s high-powered offense proved too much to overcome as the Bulldogs fell, 5-0 to the Evangels.
With the loss, McPherson drops to 3-4-1 on the season, while the Evangels improve to 7-0-0.
Mid-America controlled the offensive pressure for much of the match, registering 32 shots, including 19 shots on goal. Whitwell recorded nine first half saves, while stopping another five in the second en route to her 14 save day.
Offensively, the Bulldogs tallied nine shots, including three shots on goal. Senior forward Amanda Aragon (Thornton, Colo.) led MC with three shots. Junior Stachea Perea (Colorado Springs, Colo.) tallied two shots in the effort.
The Bulldogs have a week off before opening KCAC play on the road at the University of Saint Mary next Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. in Leavenworth, Kan.
