McPherson, Kan. – Fresh off a solid performance at the McPherson College Lakeside Shootout, the Bulldog men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to the NAIA Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan. The event, which is hosted by Southwestern College, acts as MC’s final tune up before the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Nov. 5.
This weekend’s race will be only the second full-length course for the Bulldogs, the first coming last weekend at MC’s home event.
On the men’s side, senior
David Parry (Morganville, Kan.) continues to lead the pack. Parry finished 36
th in last week’s event with a time of 28:33.10, which was more than a minute faster than McPherson’s second finisher. In addition to Parry, sophomore
Preston Mossman (McPherson, Kan.) continues to align himself with senior
Josh Niles (Goddard, Kan.) as the No. 2 runner for the Bulldogs. The two finished 56
th and 58
th respectively a week ago.
Sophomore Aspen Frey, who also is a member of McPherson’s volleyball team, emerged as the top runner on the women’s side with an 11
th place finish in her first collegiate cross country race with a time of 20:24.00. Senior
Ashley Huizar (La Puente, Calif.) continues her strong presence, including a 16
th place (20:44.30) finish at the Shootout last week.
Saturday’s action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. (CST). The women’s 5K race will be first followed by the men’s 8K at about 11:15 a.m. Results and a full recap will be posted on Macbulldogs.com as soon as possible following the meet.
