McPherson, Kan. – The Bulldogs surrendered a goal with less than a minute remaining in the match, as the McPherson College men’s soccer team fell, 2-1, to Kansas Wesleyan University in each team’s Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at McPherson Stadium.
The defeat drops McPherson to 11-6-0 overall and 6-3-0 in conference play, while the KWU improves to 15-3-0 and 9-0-0 in the league. The loss also locks the Bulldogs in as the No. 4 seed in the upcoming KCAC Tournament.
Kansas Wesleyan took an early 1-0 lead with a score in the 24
th minute from Eduardo Barba. The two sides proceeded to battle to a stalemate until the 87
th minute, when McPherson broke through with a
Juan Garcia (Reno, Nev.) goal to tie the score at 1-1. However, the Coyotes would answer less than two minutes later as Briant Reyes punched home the game winner off an Alex Chavez free kick.
The Coyotes held an 11-9 edge in shots and a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks on the Bulldogs.

Oscar Cortez (Dallas, Texas) led MC in shots with three.
McPherson returns to action next week in the KCAC Postseason Tournament. Official pairings, game dates and times will be announced either Monday or Tuesday next week.
