McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College volleyball team welcomes the University of Saint Mary to the McPherson College Sport Center on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m., in a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season match.
 
McPherson is fresh off a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-21) sweep of Ottawa University to improve to 6-12 overall and 3-5 in league play. The Spires are 4-12 overall and have lost six of their last seven, including two of the last three conference matches en route to a 2-5 KCAC mark.
 
Senior Kory Hiebert continues to lead McPherson with a 2.89 kills per set average, while ranking in the top 20 nationally in blocks per game (1.34) and total blocks (83). In the last match with Ottawa, Hiebert tallied seven kills and five block assists.
 
The match with McPherson wraps up a five-match road trip for the Spires. Their last home match was a 3-1 loss to Avila University (Mo.) on Sept. 22.  In their last outing, the Spires fell 3-2 (25-15. 27-29, 25-22, 23-25, 11-25) in a hard fought match against Sterling College.
 
Following the Spires, McPherson has nearly a week off before heading to Southwestern College on Oct. 10. The Bulldogs defeated the Moundbuilders in their first meeting 3-0. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.

  • Defensively, the Spires rank 22nd nationally in digs per game (17.7) and are led by Amelia Noll. Noll ranks second the NAIA in digs per game with 6.96 and 18th in total digs with 390.
  • Three Spires average at least two kills per set led by Megan Puhr at 2.93 kills per set. She owns eight matches with double figure kills, including a season-high 23 against Bethel College on Sept. 20.
  • USM’s matchup with McPherson wraps up a five match road trip.
