This Week
McPherson continues Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a four game set with Kansas Wesleyan University. The Bulldogs kick off the series against the Coyotes on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m. with a twin bill in Salina, before returning home to McPherson on Sunday for another doubleheader. Sunday’s games are scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
Bulldog Weekly Quick Hits
• Freshman right-hander Dalton Slavens pitched a season-high 6.1 innings in his first start Saturday against Tabor. He held the Blue Jays scoreless for six innings. On the day, he allowed three runs, while scattering four hits and striking out a season-best five in the no decision. Slavens leads the team with a 4.86 ERA in six appearances.
• Sophomore first baseman Steven Paramore hit the Bulldogs first home run of the season on Thursday at Tabor. Paramore is second on the team with a .292 batting average and eight RBIs.
• Freshman third baseman Aaron Evans continues to lead the team with a .391 batting average, 10 RBI and a .522 slugging percentage. He has hits in 12 of the Bulldogs 18 games this season, including five multi-hit games. Against Tabor, Evans 4-for-10 with a double and two RBI.
• Freshman shortstop Daxton Deal extended his consecutive starts streak to 18 over the weekend against Tabor. Deal has made all 18 starts at the shortstop position and is the only Bulldog to play in every game this season.

Kansas Wesleyan brings a 15-8 overall record into the week, including a perfect 6-0 mark in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Play. The Coyotes are riding a six-game win streak, including a pair of victories at Friends University last Friday.
Strong offense highlights the Kansas Wesleyan scouting report, as the Coyotes’ .353 team batting average ranks fourth nationally. The Coyotes also rank amongst the top 20 in hits per game (10.2) and slugging percentage (.483 percent). Fourteen players are hitting over the .300 mark, led by Brandon Trodick (.545) and Jordan Bain (.432).
On the mound, the Coyotes feature a 4.86 earned run average, including a 3.50 ERA during the win streak. Trent Montgomery leads KWU with a 2.18 ERA in six appearances, including five starts. He is 5-0 as a starter this season and is second on the team with 21 strikeouts. Matt Royal (5-1) leads the squad with 24 strikeouts.
In their last series against Friends, the Coyotes knocked off the Falcons 12-4 in game one before winning game two 15-4. In game one, Trodick finished the contest 4-for-4 from the play, including seven RBIs and his first home run of the season, while Montgomery allowed seven hits in seven innings to earn the win.
Kansas Wesleyan maintained in dominance in game two with 15 runs on 15 hits. First baseman Zach Willand led six individuals with multi-hit games with a two hit, three RBI and three runs scored performance. Royal and Dean Whiteside combined for six innings of work with Royal getting the win. Royal struck out five Falcons over four innings.
