Salina, Kan. –
Sophomore Vyacheslav Bukatin (Moscow, Russia) won his singles match to remain unbeaten in conference matches, as the McPherson College men’s and women’s tennis teams fell, 8-1 and 9-0, in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference action against Bethany on Saturday. Due to a scheduling conflict, the matches were played at Oakdale Park in Salina, Kan.

Bukatin knocked of Bethany’s Matias Leal-Jofre, 6-2, 6-0, in No. 1 singles action to win MC’s lone match of the day. With the victory, he remains unbeaten in conference matches.

The Swedes opened the morning with a sweep of the doubles matches, including a default by the Bulldogs at the No. 3 position. Bukatin and partner freshman Thiago Da Silva (Novo Hamburgo, Brazil) played a tough match, but fell, 8-6, to Jack Schoeman and Mats Flodin.

In other singles action, Da Silva nearly took set one from last year’s KCAC Player of the Year, Shane Huggins, but fell 7-6, 6-1 at No. 3.
