Bulldog Women’s Soccer Travels to Manhattan Christian on Wednesday; Home for Mid-America Christian Saturday

McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College women’s soccer team travels to Manhattan, Kan. for a midweek matchup with Manhattan Christian College Wednesday at 5 p.m., before returning home for a non-conference game with Mid-American Christian College on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Live video and statistics will be available for Saturday’s match.

The Bulldogs (1-3-0) enter the week on a three-match winless streak following a 3-1 loss against Morningside College on Sunday.

Against the Mustangs, McPherson struck first on Rachael Cornell’s first goal of the season in the seventh minute. However, Morningside turned up the pressure on the Bulldogs and scored three unanswered goals, including two from Maggie Kukuk, en route to the win.

Freshman Geneva Gray leads the Bulldogs in scoring with two goals and four points, including the overtime game winner against York College (Neb.) to open the season. Other goal scorers for McPherson include senior Stachea Perea and Rachael Cornell.

Manhattan Christian comes into the week with a 0-3 record. The Crusaders are being outscored by opponents 14-0, including a 3-0 loss against Bethel College on Sept. 10. Unlike Manhattan, Mid-America Christian has shown a dominate offensive attack en route to its 3-1 record. The Evangels own three shutouts on the season, including a 7-0 victory in their home opener against Southwestern Christian on Sept. 6.

Following this week’s matches, McPherson hits the road for a midweek game with NCAA Division II Fort Hays State University, before returning home on Saturday against Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Kickoff between the Bulldogs a Fort Hays is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
