McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College men’s tennis team hosted their rival Bethany College this past Saturday, April 21 in a highly anticipated match. The Swedes, ranked #14 in the country, proved to be the better team for the day, winning 9-0.
The Bulldogs kept the match close in doubles and had its opportunities to obtain a good lead going into the singles competition but the Swedes bared down and were able to take all of the doubles points to go up 3-0 heading into singles.
In singles, the Bulldogs were looking for some key wins but could not muster them against the Swedes. The match was closer than what some of the scores indicated but the day would belong to the Swedes as they handed the Bulldogs their first loss in conference and captured the regular season KCAC title.
The Bulldogs now prepare for the KCAC individual championships being held this Saturday, April 28 in Salina, Kan. The KCAC Team Championship will be held in Wichita, Kansas next Thursday, May 3 at the Riverside Tennis Center.
