Box Score
Hays, Kan. – The Lady Bulldog soccer team were defeated 0-6 by the Tigers of Fort Hays State University, a NCAA Division-II opponent. The loss puts MC’s record at 0-1-1 for the season.
Right from the start, it was going to be an uphill battle for McPherson as FHSU scored 46 seconds into the game after a string of five passes. The Tigers netted one more goal before halftime and another within the first two minutes of the second half. Fort Hays State scored three more times at the 54, 75 and 85 minute marks.
The score could have been much worse had it not been for the valiant goal-keeping effort of senior goalie Molly Whitwell (Plano, Texas) who recorded 16 saves, a career high, in her 90 minutes of play.
MC’s lone shot was also their only shot on goal and was attempted by junior Kelsey Garrison (Wichita, Kan.) in the second half.
The Lady Bulldogs will be traveling up to Sioux City, Iowa for their next two matches beginning with Briar Cliff University on Saturday, September 8 at 12 p.m. (CT). They will then play Morningside College on the 9th at 1 p.m.
