McPherson, Kan. – One bad half led to a 4-1 loss for the Lady Bulldogs as the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma triumphs against Mac on Saturday; MC moves to 1-3-1 on the year
"We had some breakdowns in our defensive third and gave up 3 quick goals in a 20 minute time span in the first half," said Coach Talley. "We came out the second half aggressively outshooting them 15-8 and creating scoring opportunities with no luck. I told the team when we got back that we need to take this game as a learning lesson and grow from it quickly. Our next match needs to be a lot better on both sides of the ball."
One player and 23 minutes of play brought the downfall of McPherson as Linda Addo scored three times in the game's first 25. For the final 65 minutes, Mac split scores with USAO as each squad put one past the keeper.
The final goal came from the foot of senior defender Samantha Peterson (Olathe, Kan.) in the 85th minute on a breakaway.
MC put the ball towards the goal 19 times, finding either the back of the net or the goalkeeper for 11 of those opportunities. The Lady Dovers posted 27 shots, 12 were on target.
Freshman goalie Caitlyn Blagrave (Rio Rancho, N.M.) talled eight saves while surrendering four goals for McPherson.
