Box Score McPherson, Kan. – For the second time in as many days, McPherson men's soccer triumphed 3-0 over an Iowa team, this time it was Morningside College that took the beating. The Bulldogs are now 2-2 on the year.
"It was another solid 90 performance by us today," said McPherson College head coach Doug Quint. "We created a lot of chances in possession and were really able to dictate things."
It was decided from the get-go as Mac came out of the gate ready to play, pressuring the keeper of Morningside. It may have taken 20 minutes for
Nick Torres (McPherson, Kan.) to score the first goal but it very easily could have been the fifth for the 'Dogs; junior
Tito Ruiz (Weatherford, Texas) was the assist man on Torres' goal.
Barely over five minutes later,
Johnny Nuthall (Reno, Nev.) poked one in from the edge of the box to put MC ahead 2-0.
A change at goalie couldn't even help the Mustangs as
Kevin Aka (Paris, France) pelted one in right at the start of the second half off a beautiful ball by
Rafael Fuentes (Los Angeles, Calif.), putting no doubts that McPherson was walking away as winners.
Senior
Taylor Parrott (Wichita, Kan.) recorded his second shutout between the pipes as the defense of the Bulldogs allowed them to keep the majority of the possession throughout the game.
The squad for McPherson has six days of rest before their next soccer match. They will travel to play the NAIA's number 10 ranked school University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma on September 14
th; kickoff is 2:00 p.m. (CT)
