Hillsboro, Kan. – It was one of those games where the statistics don't tell all of the story as McPherson, despite having a 14-5 shots advantage and 9-3 shots on goal advantage over Tabor College, lost a close 1-0 match on Wednesday. The 'Dogs drop to 4-10-1 on the season and 2-4 in the KCAC.
MC controlled the match early on, posting several shots on frame in the first half; the Bulldogs took six shots in the opening 45 minutes and saw five saved by Tabor's goalie. In the second it was more of the same until the Lady Jays took advantage of a McPherson miscue to score the game's lone goal in the 65th minute. Tabor did not attempt another shot the rest of the match as they hunkered down for the remaining 25 minutes. Mac took four more shots and had four more corners following the goal but was unable to score, ending the match with a 1-0 loss.
Four different Bulldog players attempted a shot on Wednesday with Cydney Lewis and Rhea Vale leading the way in shots on frame with two apiece; Heather Diamond and Haley Anderson were the others that took two shots.
Tori Verdieck recorded just two saves between the pipes in the 1-0 loss.
The Lady 'Dogs are on the road this Saturday as they travel to Sterling, Kansas to take on the Warriors of Sterling College; kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. (CT) on the 25th.
