McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College Bulldog Tennis team went 3-1 in five days and earned the second seed at the upcoming KCAC Tennis Championships this Friday. The 'Dogs defeated Ottawa University, swept Central Christian and Southwestern College before succumbing to Bethany College last Monday.
Against Ottawa the Bulldogs got two of the three doubles matches to go into singles play with a 2-1 lead. In singles it was all Mac as they swept all of the singles points. Freshman Joan-Marc Fajula Rodriguez (Olot, Spain) played in the #1 position and defeated a very talented freshman from OU in Matthew Barlow.
Against Central Christian College and Southwestern College the Bulldogs saw little resistance as they swept all the singles and doubles matches. Unfortunately, against Bethany College it was just the reserve as the Nationally Ranked Swedes swept McPherson and took control of key competitive matches.
The Bulldogs earned the #2 seed in the KCAC Tennis Championships and will face #3 Bethel College this Friday, April 25 @ 9:00am at Genesis HealthClub East in Wichita. The winner will play the winner of the match between #1 Bethany College and #4 Friends University.
