MC Outshoots and Outscores Builders

Winfield, Kan. – McPherson College doubled the shot output of Southwestern College on Saturday, 20-10, and put 11 on frame on their way to a 1-0 road victory.  The Bulldogs are now 9-8 on the year and hold a 6-3 KCAC record.

"We played awful tonight but were fortunate enough to come away with the win," said Coach Quint.  "Unfortunately, we were hit pretty hard by injuries and will have to recover from that."

The Moundbuilders were the shot takers in the opening minutes of the half, putting up five before Mac shot once.  That changed about midway through as the 'Dogs took six to SWC's zero in the final 25 minutes.  At the break, it was still a 0-0 game.

McPherson's offense continued to bombard the Builders in the second half.  Finally, after six tries at goal, the Bulldogs got on the scoreboard as Nick Torres kicked in what turned out to be the game winner in the 58th minute.  MC continued to be on the attack, taking multiple tries at the goal but was unable to produce another goal.  Regardless, they had the one and that was all they needed as the match ended at 1-0.

Of Mac's 20 shots, Torres was responsible for seven of them and put three on frame.  Greg Roller had five tries with a team-high four on goal.  Both of Jesus Pescador's shot attempts were on target.

In his sixth shutout of the year, Aaron Parrott tallied six saves.

The 'Dogs are currently in a two-way, and soon to be three-way, tie for third place in the KCAC with one match to play.  The final regular season contest for McPherson is set for November 3rd against the University of Saint Mary; start time is set for 7:00 p.m. (CT) at McPherson Stadium
